NHRCK held the 2014 Human Rights Policy Development Program for overseas public officials from 8 countries invited by the NHRCK-KOICA

- Experience-sharing and technical support for the promotion and protection of human rights -

 

oThe National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), in cooperation with KOICA, held the 2014 Human Rights Policy Development Program from 19 June to 9 July inviting 15 public officials from 8 countries such as Gabon, Nigeria, Nepal, Laos. Moldova, Mongolia, Honduras, Iraq, etc.

 

o This year, public officials in charge of the establishment of a national human rights institution and human rights policy participated in the Program. The NHRCK opened a course that includes ▲ Introduction to Human Rights ▲ International Human Rights System ▲ National Human Rights Institution ▲Human Rights and Development with the aim of sharing its experience on and providing technical support for the promotion and protection of human rights.

 

o The NHRCK also provided opportunities for participants having a discussion and learning experiences from the National Assembly, Korea Democracy Foundation, IOM Migration & Research Center, Ansan Migrant Community Service Center, and the Korea NGO Council for Overseas Development.

 

o It is the 6th year of the annual Human Rights Policy Development Program since 2009 when the NHRCK first hosted such course for overseas public officials in the area of human rights.

 

o The NHRCK wishes all participants will contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights in their country as they gained lessons and knowledge on democratization of the Republic of Korea and the improvement of human rights in the Korean society. Also, the NHRCK will continue to play a key role at the international human rights community.
