Partnership Program with NHRIs of Poland and Thailand

- a forum for cooperation and exchange on regional human rights issues -

 

o The NHRCK(Chariperson, Hyun Byung-chul) hosted a 2014 Partnership Program for Human Rights Defenders with 3 members of NHRIs from Poland and Thailand from April 21 to 25 at Baeumteo(Floor 8) and Education Center(Floor 10) of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea.

 

o During the partnership program, members from the NHRIs had an opportunity to introduce their NHRIs which were established based on different histories and cultures, give presentations on human rights issues in each nation, and to discuss and share their experiences on human rights policies, violation investigation and discrimination investigation.

 

o Mr. WOJCIECH, a director of international cooperation department of Human Rights Defender of Poland, shared experiences regarding the Holocaust happened during the World Ⅱ and the healing process.

 

o The partnership program is designed to share regional and international human rights issues in order to strengthen NHRI's capacity and relations among NHRIs as well as to lay a foundation for coordinated responses to the international human rights issues.

 

o The NHRCK has been hosting a partnership program since 2006, inviting 47 human rights officials from 18 States including India, Mongolia, Afghanistan, East-Timor, Nigeria, Mexico and New Zealand.

 

o The NHRCK would like to play a leading role in the international community by sharing experiences of democratization and empowerment, thus contributing to the protection of human rights at international level.
