NHRCK signs an MOU with the Korean Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (Chairperson Hyun Byung Chul) and the Korean Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation (Chairperson Young Jun Mok) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for human rights promotion. The signing ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 29th 2013 at the Plenary Commission Conference Room (13th Floor) of the NHRCK with Chairs Hyun and Mok in participation.

 

The Korean Bar Association Legal Aid Foundation (KBALAF) was established in 2003 as a public interests foundation that seeks to promote human rights in the Korean society by delivering legal remedy projects for socially vulnerable groups, and research on enhancing legal institutions. NHRCK has signed an MOU with KBALAF to strengthen efforts to promote of human rights through mutual cooperation.

 

Upon signing the MOU, NHRCK and KBALAF plans to empower legal mechanism for victims of human rights violations and discrimination in accordance to Article 47 of the National Human Rights Commission Act.

 

Also, both institutions agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation in promoting research and advisory activities to enhance legislation, institutions, and practices concerning human rights violations and discrimination; offering support and consultation to victims of human rights violations and discrimination; and strengthening human rights advocacy.
