NHRCK Host Academic Seminar in Commemoration of Publication of ICTs and Human Rights Report

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (NHRCK), the Korea Internet Law Association and the Comparative Law Research Institute of the Dongguk University jointly held an academic seminar commemorating the publication of the report on the Information and Communications Technologies (ICTs) and Human Rights at the Dongguk University on June 14, 2003.

 

 

The Seminar, which came five months after the NHRCK’s publication of the world’s very first report on the ICTs and human rights in January 2013, aimed to discuss a wide range of issues in the ICTs and human rights arena in a comprehensive manner.

 

Specific issues discussed at the seminar are as follows:

 

 

△ Right to information privacy
- Communications surveillance such as CCTVs, SNS, digging up of personal information via SNS, right to be forgotten

 

△ Freedom of anonymous speech
- Limitation of the restriction on freedom of anonymous speech
Ex) controversies over the so-called Ilbe, a social website in Korea 

 

△ Right of access to information and the right to enjoyment of information
- Public information disclosure system
- Internet access
- Copyright
- Network neutrality
