- On the occasion of the World Day Against Human Trafficking, July 30. launched the "Reach Every Victim of Human Trafficking, Leave No One Behind" Campaign-

The National Human Rights Commission of Korea (Chairperson Song Doo-hwan, hereinafter referred to as the "NHRCK") held the "Policy Discussion on the Diagnosis of Human Trafficking in Korean Society and the Eradication of Human Trafficking" (hereinafter referred to as the "Discussion") at the Human Rights Education Center on July 25 in cooperation with National Assembly members Kang Min-jung, Park Beom-gye, Yoon Mi-hyang, and Jang Hye-young.

In Korean society, human trafficking has been viewed as an act of buying and selling people like commodities. However, the international community, including the United Nations, defines human trafficking as "the act of exploiting people through coercive or illegal means by recruiting or transferring people by exploiting the vulnerability of the other person.

Many countries around the world are affected by human trafficking as countries of origin, transit, or destination for trafficking victims. The international community conducts an annual campaign by designating July 30 as the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons to raise awareness of the human rights situation of victims of trafficking and to promote and protect their rights, and this year's theme is "Reach Every Victim of Trafficking, Leave No One Behind".

In order to participate in the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, the NHRCK held a policy discussion with the National Assembly, related ministries and civil society to examine the current situation of human trafficking in Korea and review the current status of domestic policies to prevent it.
