NHRCK carried out itinerant human rights counseling for the elderly

o National Human Rights Commission of Korea carried out an Itinerant Human Rights Counselling for the elderly at the Seoul Welfare Center for Elderly on 30 August.o During the counselling, older people received counselling services for human rights infringements, discrimination and legal affairs. In addition, to provide practical information related to daily lives, public officers in charge of tax affairs and elderly welfare from Jongno Tax Office and Jongno District Office participated.
o In addition, people were able to submit complaints related to human rights infringements and discriminations, which will be transferred to related divisions for immediate provision of remedies. Received cases will be utilized as a basis to carry out policy review and a fact-finding research for promotion of human rights of older persons.
o Meanwhile, the NHRCK, as a Chair of the GANHRI Working Group on Ageing continues to exert its best efforts to raise awareness on human rights of older persons including hosting the GANHRI Special Session, ASEM Conference and Expert Forum on human rights of older persons.
