The National Human Rights Commission of Korea carried out an itinerant human rights counseling service in Wonju on 22 September.

NHRCK provided human rights counseling and legal counseling service regarding human rights violation and discriminations. In addition, in cooperation with civil society organizations in Gangwon area, the NHRCK listened to voices of local residents and sought measures to promote and protect human rights of local residents.

People in Gangwon region had comparatively less access to human rights services including investigation, remedy, education and counseling, with no regional human rights office in place.

The itinerant counseling service was carried out as part of 'Movement to make human rights friendly city' organized by Wonju People's Solidarity with 18 human rights organizations in Gangwon area.

The NHRCK will continue to cooperate with local civil organizations to promote human rights of local residents in Gangwon area in a bid to create an environment where human rights are fully realized.
